Description

Petit Verdot is considered a blending grape and we ferment and age a few barrels of it every year. Most years, it adds complexity to our Bon Passe Cabernet and Linda’s Hillside Cabernet. In exceptional years, we keep a few barrels and bottle it on its own. The 2012 vintage is our fifth bottling of 100% estate grown Petit Verdot.

Tasting Notes

Our magnificent, dense purple colored Petit Verdot reveals notes of ripe and dark berries with hints of truffles. The palate is rich with blueberries, violet, ground coffee flavors and displays serious tannins. Enjoy it now or aged, this wine is beautiful now but will surely only become embellished with time.

Vineyard Designation

Bon Passe

Production Notes

2012 was a “classic” Napa vintage in many regards. Weather conditions during bloom were ideal leading to a generous set in the grapes. This allowed us to be more aggressive in our “green” thinning at veraison to create more even ripeness in the remaining clusters at harvest time. Temperatures during September were mild and consistent allowing the grapes to slowly ripen. We harvested the Petit Verdot on October 8th.
