Dark ruby in color, our finest 2012 wine offers ripe blackberries and dark cherries with copious notes of cigar box and a hint of minerality. Well balanced with refined tannins, drink now after decanting or age for a few years in your cellar. You will be rewarded for your patience.
The Estate Bon Passe Vineyard is located in the southwestern bench lands of Napa Valley, in the Oak Knoll District appellation. The vineyard is comprised of both hillsides and valley floor, with varying soil types. As a result, we harvest our six blocks separately to take advantage of the different lots and add complexity to our wines.
2012 was a “classic” Napa vintage in many regards. Weather conditions during bloom were ideal leading to a generous set in the grapes. This allowed us to be more aggressive in our “green” thinning at veraison to create more even ripeness in the remaining clusters at harvest time. Temperatures during September were mild and consistent allowing the grapes to slowly ripen. We harvested the hillside fruit on October 19th.
